3rd Ascent Of Warpath (V14)

In a post on ClimbIdaho 21-year-old Matt Fultz writes that he has done the 3rd ascent of James Litz’s Warpath (V14) at Castle Rock State Park, ID:

Warpath is around 25 moves long, and relentless all the way through. It climbs 4 V10s back-to-back-to-back-to-back with poor rests.

The first day I worked it out, I was able to do every move first or second try, and surprised myself by making some really good links on it. I though it would go pretty quickly.

I remember predicting only 2 more days of effort before I was standing on top. But that didn’t quite work out.

It ended up taking him a bit longer than he first anticipated, requiring a handful of trips over the past couple of years before the problem would go down.  Check out his post for the full story.

Fultz climbed his first 5.14 when he was 14 and in recent years has focused more on bouldering including this link-up he did on the same roof as Warpath:

Debate/jens: This guy is a climber for Christ. Is it fair that when he is climbing, Jesus is rooting for him? I feel like if the savior of mankind has your back, all your sends should be downrated, or at least marked with an asterisk “fully/mainly helped by higher power”

Wow that was an awesome climb. Its not clear how difficult it is until the camera angle changes to reveal he is basically climbing horizontally along a roof. Warpath reminds me alot of Rodellar, a project by Dani Andrada somewhere in Catalunya, Spain. I think these massive bouldering routes are part of the progression of the sport.
