In my role as the Climbing Narc I do my best to bring you interesting topics on all aspects of climbing. I like to think that I don’t miss many of the more interesting things out there, but thanks to a post on The Adventurist I found while perusing the FRB Message Board I now realize I missed something really, really cool. The post on The Adventurist highlights an article in National Geographic: Adventure about the famous boulder problem Midnight Lightning (V8) in Yosemite’s Camp 4.

Spring Break ‘09 Pt. 2: Rocktown Pt. 1

If you ask most people to identify one classic problem in Rocktown, GA, The Orb would probably be it. One of the first problems you come across on the approach to the boulders, The Orb climbs out the underbelly of a very unique looking boulder using a series of cool holds. It also happens to hold the very attainable grade of V8. Needless to say, it didn’t take very long for our crew (minus yours truly) to begin throwing down attempts shortly after we arrived at the boulders.
