Deadpoint Magazine has been doing a nice job with their exclusive video channel of late with videos like Jen Vennon repeating 7 P.M. Show (5.14a) in Rifle, CO and Eric Singleton climbing a rad looking line at North Carolina’s Looking Glass Rock.
DPM’s latest effort, in collaboration with Chuck Fryberger, is a 3 part series about climbing after 30 that checks in with Joe Kinder, Jamie Emerson and Keith Ladzinski to see how their lives have changed after turning the big 3-0. Part 1 features Joe Kinder talking about his life after 30 and shows him on his new route in Rifle, Waka Flocka (5.14b). Check it out here.
Climbing after 30? Oh to be so lucky. I’m waiting for the “Climbing after Fifty” series!

agree. none of them look very old, and 30 is not very old seriously. to hear joe kinder talking about being old seems kind of out of place. they should at least have done 40.

Two words: Bill Ramsey.

Now that would be amazing!

50 and crushing, consistently. That shit is impressive/inspirational.

I’m rapidly approching thirty and getting stronger season by season.
I climb with 2 dudes who just turned 40.
They crush v10 and can hike me into the ground.
I agree with the whole maturity thing however.

It’s pretty funny… 30! These poor bastards already have one foot in the grave! A good excuse to stop trying hard.

I remember what it was like looking at 30 when I was 29. I was scared to death. I’m sure most of us were. Looking back, it now looks silly, but at the time 30 was old. This video is meant for younger individuals than myself, but the concept is great.

Great idea and well done video series. I tend to agree for pro level climbers. But, for us weekend warriors, 30 means nothing. I have a 31 year old friend who is at the peak of his game and just getting stronger.
