ClimbTalk Radio John Bachar Interview

Legendary free soloist John Bachar recently made a stop in Boulder, CO for a slideshow.  While in town, he also sat down for a lengthy interview with the guys from ClimbTalk Radio.

The 30 minute interview covers a wide range of topics with, of course, Bachar’s free soloing being the main one.  He talks about how he began free soloing as well as his well known accident where he decked while soloing in Eldorado Canyon.  His message to the kids out there:  DON’T FREE SOLO.

You can download the entire interview in mp3 format here.

  1. The other part I liked was when Bachar described his first visit to Eldo. Basically they drove past all the actual climbing because they were expecting something much more visually appealing a la Yosemite. When they got to the end of the road and still hadn’t found what they were expecting they realized that the somewhat jumbled and blocky looking stuff near the entrance was where the climbing was.

That’s pretty much how I felt the first time driving through Eldo.

  3. omg you fools do not know stone! yosemite is so dumb. who wants to climb on huge domes visable from miles away and/or pluto? that’s so lame. the real deal is to scramble around the jumbles of sandstone like a hantavirus mouse. THAT’S BLISS.

i do not know why i need to keep spelling out the obvious for you fools.
