I think this format covered the competition extremely well! Definitely one of the best that I have seen… Only possible complaint is that 12min is a bit long for a “highlight reel”? But for a comprehensive coverage of the comp geared for a climber audience, it was near perfect.
I fucking loved this highlight reel. Way to take all the feedback for the LT11 video and put it into action!! Granted, there’s like twice the comp footage, but this video told the story of the climbing better than any recap I’ve ever seen. Nice work!
Thanks for the compliment. I knew it was long, but I couldn’t do it justice with anything less. BTW, Jimmy Webb was the only guy to do that traverse section that way. Shane was a bit bummed when he saw my edit feature that whole skipped sequence…
Would anyone be interested in seeing more climbers do the full route?
I think the way you did it was fine. It showed a selection of climbers all working the initial moves, in tune with the music, and very fluid. Then you showed each persons failure point without cutting it too short. Finally, you got each of us to do a double-take when we thought that Daniel made the high point, only to show the entire climb by the winning competitor, Alex, only slightly sped up, but again in sync with the music. Awesome.
If you have extra footage of quals or setting lying around, those of us with nothing to do at the office would love to see it, but as for the main highlight reel, you have what you need.
I, for one, would be very interested in the whole route/qaulifieres/setting and forerunning. There is a fascinating process to these events that spectators do not get to see most of the time.
Great video. I think the length was fine considering the first five minutes were the guys climbing, the second five were the girls, and the last minute was the awards. I don’t think it really dragged on at any point. I guess you could release the guys and girls highlight videos separate next time, like LT11 does sometimes, if you wanted to cut it down a little.
I really liked the editing though, you did a great job conveying the specifics of the route to the audience. This created the highly sought after “perspective” that the audience needs when watching a sport climb.

I’m going to release a second edition with the climbers’ names and results. A 48 hour turnaround was of utmost importance to feed the animals.
