There have been a lot of videos made about climbing the Nose on El Cap in a day, most notably Tommy Caldwell in Dosage IV and the insane speed record of Hans Florine and Yuji Hirayama shown in the latest Masters Of Stone movie. However, watching the very best at any sport do something doesn’t really give us common folk a real sense for how difficult something like climbing El Cap in a day can be.
Updates From South Africa
I mentioned last week how it has been a somewhat slow summer for climbing news. Part of this can be attributed to the lack of action taking place here in the States, but another reason is that one of the more popular international summer climbing destinations in the world has a sub par connection to the internet. I’m of course talking about the Rocklands of South Africa.

Back in 2003, a strange thing happened in Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California. A massive rainstorm came through that caused a boulder to fall over from its perch between two other walls. The happenstance of this boulder falling over revealed the potential for a proud and difficult new boulder problem to be climbed.
