I like to think I’m pretty up to speed on most everything that is happening in the online climbing world, but every once in awhile I find that I missed something cool. One such example is Cedar Wright’s Vertical Carnival blog. Wright started the blog back in February before an extended trip to South America during which he produced a series of short video clips. Being somewhat stuck in my ways I figured that videos from a big wall/trad climber’s trip wouldn’t interest me all that much, and I never got around to actually watching any of his dispatches*.
Starting to sense I was missing out on something, I finally got around to watching a few of the videos the other day and I have to say I was pretty impressed. The dispatches were varied, well done and overall pretty cool.
Here are a couple of the more recent dispatches that caught my attention. The first video is of a 58 meter, 28 bolt sport climb in Cipo, Brazil that looks pretty amazing. The second video is back here in the U.S. at Colorado’s Boulder Canyon. It shows Nellie Milfeld running it out on The Spoils (5.12 R).

One of the most interesting blogs of late. The Serra do Cipo footage was excellent. I really liked the urban art video which displayed the awesome Rio graffiti. All in all, Cedar’s blog is the shit, he’s living it up.
Wow, the Brazil clip/climb was amazing. Funny, I’ve been to, or at least very near, that area in Brasil about 20 years ago. Who knew. Damn I am old. Thanks for posting the clip. ce
