Sufferfest 2

Climbing.com has a nice report on the recent “Sufferfest 2” undertaken by Alex Honnold & Cedar Wright:

Now they have completed Sufferfest 2, a 700-mile ride through Canyonlands in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Arizona, bagging desert towers along the way.

Over three weeks, the two climbed 45 towers—a total that normally takes years even for hard-core desert aficionados.

Not digging the “branding” going on with these endeavors. Seems the first name (“Sufferfest”) sort of arose organically but the #2 thing seems forced and goofy. I noticed that Honnold didn’t refer to it or use it as a hastag in his summary instagram post about the trip. Maybe it grew old and trite to him as well. Yes, I let things bother me that shouldn’t.

Same…it also seemed like much less of a sufferfest this time. They did A LOT, sure, but this time, they had support vehicles following them, cooking for them, and carrying their gear. Plush.
