Climbers: Dean Potter
Tommy Caldwell and Alex Honnold spent Saturday romping up big walls in Yosemite. The pair free climbed Freerider on El Cap, the South Face of Mt. Watkins and the Regular Northwest Face on Half Dome in just over 21 hours. So…how was your weekend??
Dean Potter: Falling To Fly, 4.1 out of 5 based on 16 ratingsEthan Pringle is back at Mt. Clark, home to that one route first done by that one guy:
Projecting a route like this requires all of your attention, and having to devote all of your attention to a route like this can get really tiring really fast. At some point, you just want to get it over with. Of course, afterward you feel a mix of relief and loss. Relief that you’re done and the epic is over, and loss that this magnificent line doesn’t require your presence anymore. But for me, I think I’ll have to take a nice long break from serious route projects for a little while after this. Like Randy Levitt said, “It’s like a limestone El Cap.” Obviously, that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but it does sort of convey the amount of work required to complete a project of this caliber.
Pringle is no stranger to Jumbo Love, having tried it even before its FA back in 2008. You can see some footage of those attempts here.
Dean Potter: Falling To Fly, 4.1 out of 5 based on 16 ratingsI don’t know about you, but I always try my best to climb close to an actual bathroom. In case you don’t, the Access Fund has a nice refresher on what to do when nature calls.

I would appreciate if you could contact Dean Potter for me too. i’d love the chance to climb with him, base jump with him, and walk the ropes with him like he does. besides the rope part, i’ve thought it would be amazing to climb without ropes and base jump as a rope not knowing that someone has done thins before me. i know you probably get a lot of people asking you to contact him for them, but i would appreciate this so much if you do, and frankly i’ve been planning this summer to buy my own BASE jumping equipment, and i’ve never jumped before. because of this i would really like someone like dean to teach me how to prepare all of the equipment as well as how to climb better rather than me going off videos on the internet and hoping that i have it correct when i jump off a cliff. i really cannot thank you enough if you could contact dean for me, and let him know that i’d like the opportunity to climb with him, base jump, and just talk and hang out with the man.

Hello,
I thought I give this blog a try in order to find out how I might get in touch with Dean Potter as well. I am a graduate student at the University Of California Riverside pursuing an Master’s in Fine Arts in Experimental Choreography. I have been studying Dean’s work for some time and would be interested in talking to him about it, especially since I would like to re-think choreographing on vertical terrain.
If anyone can get me in communication with him, or at least mention that I have expressed an interest in looking at his work from an artistic and poetic I perspective I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks! Crystal Sepulveda

Hey dick. That’s like a mile from my house. I don’t particularly love the place but I would have come and met you… or even better I could have invited you to my sand volleyball match where you could have witnessed my dominance and then we could have gone to our sponsor tavern and gorged on beers and foods.

I’m sure the guys from Montrail and Petzl would have loved to check out your little Volleyball battle. I’ll let you know next time i’m down that way.
Also how can you not love matrix style instafreeze Ice Cream?!?!? We went to Piece too. Good beers.

I think the gents from both of those companies would have been thrilled. Who knows I may have gotten the first Petzl vollyball sponsorship. Come to think of it I feel robbed. This is bullshit.
I think its a consistency thing. Just a little off for me. I could have brought you to a self serve frozen yogurt bar. 8 different flavors and a million toppings that you get to do-up yourself. Serves you right for being foolish and not calling.

Yes……..BUT THEY FREEZE IT IN FRONT OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you can serve yourself. let it melt and then go back home and put it in the freezer. like magic it’ll be frozen again…

yeah, after a couple hours of waiting. I rest from climbing far too fast to wait for my ice cream in front of me. I need instafreeze.
Can’t believe Narc hasn’t bopped in on this one. Think it has to get more angry for him to care.
Sweaty…..you triathalon slowly!!!!!

I’m just glad that I could be host to such a conversation

Would like a chance to speak to Dean Potter regarding a magazine article. We’re adopting a different approach to talk about flight. Anyone has an idea how I can get in touch with this elusive man?
Very much appreciated.
