here’s a tip when pondering what footage to include in your rock-climbing video. does the footage contain actual rock-climbing? if no, cut it.
exceptions can be made if you’re an artist, like fred nicole, insane, like johnny dawes, or unaccountably cool, like the fifty year old crushing everything in smith during the summer at smith video.

I kind of agree with Mr. eat your skin. Not quite sure what it is about these Epic TV videos that irks me, but I always feel a bit unsatisfied when I watch them. Seems like they’ve got a clear idea of what they want to portray, and they’re doing that well, but I guess I’m not part of their target audience. I feel like I’m watching an advert for climbing instead of a bunch of climbers working hard boulders. Still some nice footage though, so can’t complain too much. 🙂

Pretty sure they are just showing you what you can do while you are at bishop; where the places are. They are trying to be a virtual guide book. I see nothing wrong with this. This is classic LT11 videos.

Half? Aren’t all the dudes in this crew from the US? So that’d make it a quarter… Also I still think they should be using the vscale, they’re in the US. If they were climbing at a crag in Europe, sure that make sense.

I only recall seeing two people climbing in the video, but I could be mis-remembering. Either way it doesn’t matter all that much, but I’ve always gone with the V-scale. ‘Merica and all that.

Who cares where they are from? They are in the US, the series is called Lost in North America, it’s in English and directed at an American audience (far as I can tell). Using Font. grades in this circumstance is baseless and pretentious as fuck. Also, they screwed up the conversion on the first problem, Every Color You Are V6 (equivalent to fb7A, not 7A+)

Speaking of the V-scale, I don’t boulder but I’d still like to hear some thoughts on something that has been bugging me: Is the v-scale compacted at the upper end? That is, is the difference in level of difficulty between, say, a V10 and V12 equivalent to the difference in difficulty between V4 and V6? I know it is supposed to be, but is it, actually?
