Joe Kinder reports on his blog that he did the first ascent of 31º at the Puoux near Glenwood Springs, CO yesterday. Check his post for a cool photo sequence of him on the route for which he has proposed a grade of 5.14b.

This is super cool. I’m glad to see Joe keeps putting up 14s all over, and doing it often, with sadly little pomp and circumstance. He’s pretty incredible.

What sort of pomp and circumstance would be appropriate??

I’m still waiting for you to throw him a party.
Just kidding. Its good to hear his name mentioned. I guess what I was trying to convey is that he doesn’t toot his own horn too much, not that anyone else needs to show him extra love. He will just quietly mention, “it was just another Thursday, doing a 5.14 first ascent.” He’s a strong climber, very excited on everything climbing, and a great example of one of the best athletes sponsors could ask for. I didn’t mean to be critical, just to mention how great it is that him doing a 14 is just… another climb for him but in terms of how much it means to the community, its pretty big.

I think Joe creates an impressive amount of buzz for work on the climbing and developing front.
