For the second straight major competition (the other being the recent World Cup in Chamonix), Chris Sharma, 2 time defending champion of this event, was a no show. Other than that, no real surprises to speak of in the list of 12 finalists from each category save perhaps the 19th place finish of Carlo Traversi. I’d like to give special props to everyone from the Midwest who competed, especially Greg Padovani who placed a solid 22nd.
