Video Friday: The Bachar-Yerian

Video Friday: The Bachar-Yerian

Friday is here once again and to help get you through the day is this nice video from Cole Gibson of the classic route the Bachar-Yerian (5.11c R/X) in Yosemite’s Tuolumne Meadows.

Famous for its runouts and a real homage to the ground up ethic of John Bachar, the Bachar-Yerian is a must do for those with the physical skills and, perhaps more importantly, the mental chops to keep their head on the long runouts.

The video chronicles two “regular” guys, Andrew Rock and Jan McCollum, making it their mission to send the route.  Pretty inspiring to see their hard work pay off!

Very cool! Definitely not a fan of the frequent slideshow stills and would’ve liked to see some more close shots of the individual moves & less wide zoomed out and sped up shots. Thanks for the video Narc!

When not climbing or training for climbing, I admittedly follow it like it’s a league sport. So…

BigUP is “prepping for Yosemite” on Nov 9?

Does this mean that Caldwell and Jorgenson are going to make a push?

    Weather looks good:

If they do it, will BigUP throw it into the new video at the last minute?

Yes they are making a push but I doubt any footage would be released that quickly

Awesome achievement for these dudes. I doesn’t really get any better than that: doing your best out there with good friends on legendary climbs.

I will have to get on that route.

Awesome video. To me as inspiring as many of the shorts from the Dosage series. Loved it!

A proud ascent for sure but, I have to say the fanboy atmosphere around this ascent of the BY was pretty nauseating.

I know what you’re saying, but for me it was interesting mainly from the standpoint of seeing someone set a goal and following through with it. The fact that it was a famous route like the BY was just a bonus.
