New Rocky Mountain Highball Website

New Rocky Mountain Highball Website

Rocky Mountain Highball is an excellent looking climbing movie that has been in the works for several years now.  In case you couldn’t guess, the movie is going to prominently feature highball boulder problems from all over Colorado’s Frontrange as well as interviews with the climbers who climb them.  In anticipation of the April 27th premier in Boulder, CO, a new Rocky Mountain Highball website has been unveiled and it’s pretty slick.  Here is a partial synopsis of the movie from the site:

Rocky Mountain Highball documents the many facets of this niche sport by interweaving numerous classic climbs in Colorado, with interview footage of the leading figures in the climbing world.  Having shot more than 70 different climbs with over 35 athletes, this film proves to be a robust and unique creation from Yama Studio which will be a solid asset to any outdoor enthusiast’s film library.

The site has a pretty cool feature on the “Cast” page where you can see brief snippets from the movie for several of the climbers.  It also gives you a sneak peak at the all-star cast of climbers that are in the movie.

In addition you can sign up to receive updates on RMH, and you can also see or download the trailer on the Media page.  Here it is for your viewing pleasure:

On a scale from 1 to 10 I’m at about a 65 as far as excitement goes for this movie.  I always get nervous when I see climbers talking in a climbing movie, but I have faith that the guys at Yama Studio know what they’re doing.  Stay tuned for more info as the release draws closer.

yeah. everytime i watch myself talk on camera it’s terribly awkward. cuz i’m all like “do i always talk so much?” and “do i really sound that ridiculous?”. and my friends are all like /ignoring me. and then i get really quiet. and then i talk about how weird it is when i don’t say anything for a few minutes. and my friends are like /ignoring me.

    fun times.

Okay, I know I’m a little late on this, but I’ve been excited for this movie for a while. Can you buy the DVD somewhere?

Mark, I heard it was supposed to be a June release and now it’s mid-August. Ontop of that they are totally unresponsive to emails and haven’t updated their website since the word premier.

Basically a movie I was very interested in seeing has been a total let-down as far as a DVD release goes.

Sweet, I’m not a complete idiot. And to think I just thought this was another one of my horrible bouts with stupidity. I was really hoping to get a copy for a get together of climbing friends once school starts up again. Darn.

Yet again. Beta searching. I mean, I heard that there was a good response to the movie. I want to get this movie. Every time I read the word “highball” I think, when is that movie coming out. I also want to go highball bouldering, but I feel like a DVD is a bit safer.

The non-release of this movie is almost comical at this point as the wave of hype has LONG since passed. Not sure what they are waiting for…

Unauthorized update for the Narc’s masses:

This film should be available very very soon. Last I heard, Scott was working out the last kinks for the bonus footage, which unlike other climbing DVDs I know about, is 30-40 minutes in length of beautiful highballs from all over CO. The bonus footage was filmed with the same camera in HD, it is fully edited, with a combination of sound and original music. In total, the film makers filmed 70+ – maybe 80 – highballs spread out at areas all over CO and the film makers want to include ALL of them on the DVD they release for sale.

This DVD is not a flavor of the month climbing movie … it will be watchable for decades to come. Hang in there, it’s coming.

Just wanted to let you know it’s coming. Don’t shoot the messenger. No matter how long much longer we have to wait, it will be have been worth it.

Well… maybe a step backward here. The website seems to be down. Unless they’re launching a new website to tell us how they’re closer to a store, and that DVDs are going to come in the next few years.

I seem to be the person that wants this DVD the most, too. I’m a little obsessed.

    People…

It is true, we will be getting this out in the next few weeks. I personally apologize for this unfortunate delay, and hope that you enjoy the project we spent over three years of our lives working on. I’ll post another message on this string once we have them available on our website.

    Take care,

    Scott
