There were a couple of quality bouldering videos posted online at the end of the week that have been making the rounds around the interweb. Since they are pretty good, I figured they are worth reposting here even if you might have seen them elseshwere.
First up is a quality short from the same blogger that brought us “85 Day’s in Font”, Uncle Somebody. The video features the aforementioend Uncle Somebody and Ty Landman making ascents of 3 amazing looking Swiss V13s: Amber, La Prou and Boogalagga. Boogalagga is noteworthy in that Dave Graham recently added a sit start, Big Paw, that pushes the grade up to V15.

The second video comes to us from Fraction Film. Dubbed “Mirando”, the 12 minute video features several noteworthy problems in Bishop, CA like Haroun And The Sea Of Stories (V12), Xavier’s Roof (V12), Stained Glass (V10), Secrets Of The Beehive (V5), The Mandala (V12) and Flight Of The Bumblebee (V7). The video has well known climbers Daniel Woods, Ethan Pringle and Giovanni Traversi along with the lesser known Ian Cotter-Brown and Brian Hedrick. You can read a pretty good recap of the weekend in word form on Ethan Pringle’s blog.

While there is certainly room for some critique of these videos, the fact that they are A) free and B) not on YouTube gives them a bit of leeway in my opinion. Besides the potential for a larger random audience, is there any reason to post a video to YouTube anymore??
Ian Cotter-Brown is actually from Madison, Brian. Used to play soccer with him, actually, and climbed with him in my time out in Bishop. Awesome video, by the way.

Nice. Not sure that I ever would have met him during my time in Madison.

I think he moved out to Bishop/Mammoth fairly quickly, so probably not. He’s been back a few times though. Really fun guy to climb with.

The videos are great, and the climbing is awesome, but I gotta say I love the colors and hues in the first one. Very green/grey. Artsy.

I agree, I really like the look of the first video.
