The it in this case is 12-year-old Ashima Shiraishi making a quick 2 day repeat of The Automator (V13) in RMNP, CO. She is the 2nd female to climb this problem after Angie Payne in 2010, and she is the youngest person of either gender to climb this quintessential Park testpiece.

i think there are plenty of girls that could do god module. but instead of traveling around to different smaller areas within the USA to do FFAs of various V10s they are either a) on the competition scene and don’t climb outside that much or b) from foreign countries where their climbing destination trips are to larger areas (in fact, some of the strong females that live in the USA don’t even bother ticking off classic lines in their home areas opting instead for climbing hard outside lines only on large scale destination trips. i’ve never understood this). some more FFAs of burlier climbs would be awesome though.

Great points from Narc and anonymous. I didn’t say girls couldn’t do it, I think they are fully capable. All the more reason it would be cool for one to climb the line, and interesting that it hasn’t been done yet. I think Ashima would crush Gang Bang. Both Sides of the Spectrum might take a little more work.

The line fits short people with great crimping skills really well…It’s impressive, but not too surprising. She seems to do well with medium dynamic moves as well, maybe Nuthin’ but Sunshine is on the list too?
