Interesting news out of Chicago that Walltopia and a group called First Ascent Climbing are teaming up to bring a “state-of-the-art” climbing facility to Chicago’s South Loop. To those of you living outside the Midwest this may not seem like big news, but if you only knew the current level of climbing gym present in the greater-Chicago area you’d know this is a pretty big deal. I was actually just thinking about this the other day . . . 1400 commercial climbing gyms in the US and not one in Chicago? When is someone gonna capitalize on that? Well . . . here we are. About time.

I thought hidden peak was building someing as well. I was told that it was supposed to located near the university of chicago. Not sure about the timeline though.

There are actually a ton of great climbing options already available in the city. Chicago Fitness Report has a full list: http://www.chicagofitnessreport.com/climbing-walls. That being said, I agree that FA will probably be the best.
