I love LT11 and their videos but I wasn’t really feeling this one. For some reason it felt a little self indulgent. No disrespect, it just wasn’t their best.

I think part of the issue is that LT11 puts out both professional and casual videos. Since this video obviously falls into the casual category, some people might be upset if they were expecting a video of professional quality.

In order to prevent this confusion and the potential dilution of the brand, I wonder if LT11 could do a better job of differentiating their video types, instead of lumping all of them in the same Vimeo page. This would give the viewer a better understanding of what they are getting into, and not come out disappointed if they expected something more.

As far as this video goes, I think it was fine and entertaining, as long as the audience realizes LT11 wasn’t shooting for the same quality product as a comp video.

What does “professional quality” even mean in regards to climbing videos?

I want to see something that gets me psyched and does a good job capturing the essential qualities of the climb and the experience of the send. If a video fails to do that, I’m not going to be into it. It has nothing to do with how “professional” it is.

Maybe this video should be title “LT11 clips/outakes/antics” instead of the more exciting title of “Early Season RMNP”. This video reminded me of the things I dislike about the climbing scene instead of reminding me of all the wonderful things I love about climbing.

This video took an awesome subject, bouldering in one of the most beautiful and inspiring national parks, and turned it into a farce. Louder Than Eleven spends half the video trying to make the climbers seem cool and ironic. What they succeed in doing is portraying a group of self absorbed idiots harassing the wildlife and being rude to park employs. Not only that but when the climbers finally get on the rock, LTE has to flash its symbol sporadically lest the viewer get bored with the excellent bouldering. Worst of all, that poor girl gets to embody just about every negative female climber stereotype. She gets hurt easily, she only climbs a V0, and when she tops out she feels the need to pull her shirt up. In the end she complains about how she is treated and all we hear is laughs. Not only is this a poor climbing video, this is an insult to female climbers. Louder Than Eleven should be ashamed for putting this out.
