As I mentioned yesterday, American Alex Johnson won last weekend’s bouldering World Cup in Greifensee, Switzerland calling it, “a really lucky night” in an interview with Climbing.com. Lucky or not, it’s rare to see an American having any kind of success at World Cups not held in Vail. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come for both Alex and the rest of the U.S. Team if/when other American climbers venture overseas to compete.
To give you an idea what the climbing was like in the final round of the Greifensee World Cup event is this video that features the top two finishers for each gender (Kilian Fischhuber and Adam Ondra for the Men, Alex Johnson and Akiyo Noguchi for the Women):
