Over the long holiday weekend, Momentum Video Magazine posted up a video by Scott Neel of Lynn Hill’s ascent of Chablanke (V11/12) in Hueco Tanks. You can check it out by clicking here. As usual, a couple of things jumped out at me while watching the brief video (other than the impressive nature of the climbing).
First up, check out those muscles! It looks like I can no longer complain about being old and out of shape for at least 23 more years.

Excuse me while I stop and do 1,000 pushups…
Second, check out those shoes. It is becoming somewhat common to see someone climbing in two different shoes. However, it is not very often you see someone climbing in two different shoes from two different shoe companies.

This is especially true when the two shoe companies are arch-superrivals Five Ten and La Sportiva! Doesn’t she know???
I havent actually fact checked, but i believe Lynn pre-dates both companies. sooooo in the words of Eric Cartman,
“Whatevaa, I do what i waaant!”

Lynn Hill is so good that the companies have agreed to sponsor each foot individually. She also has an Anasazi Lace Left and a Barracuda Right combination.

I agree with the sentiment, Ryan, but Sportiva has been around for over eighty years. She’s not THAT old.

It is worth noting that unless my memory is failing me, Lynn Hill was recently featured in a Five Ten magazine ad.

I think it is clear from watching the video that Lynn Hill has, in fact, read V 7.2 of straightouttabedlam and has taken heed of your heel hooking knowledge. There is no other explanation!
