Making The Most Of A Bad Situation

Remember that one time that Chris Sharma was going to join Tommy Caldwell and crew for a season on Yosemite’s Dawn Wall but couldn’t because the government shut down and Yosemite was closed?  That was pretty cool uncool.  According to Climbing.com, instead of trying to stick it to the man and try to climb in the park illegally, Sharma has moved on to something else for now:

Kept out of Yosemite by the government shutdown, and thus unable to work on the Dawn Wall as planned, Chris Sharma traveled south for another mega-project: a futuristic route on Clark Mountain.

Go on…

Kinda disappointing…I was looking forward to seeing what happened when he joined the team.

I thought Jumbo Love was broken? This is actually pretty exciting for me. I’d love to see an upper 5.15 established in the states, and I’d like to know Chris’ opinion on the state of Jumbo Love.

In the comments on this site! There was quite a bit of talk about broken holds making it unclimbable. Am I misremembering or confusing with another route?

Ha! I know there has been that discussion about Flex Luthor, but I’m not sure about Jumbo Love.

I don’t think so. Woods repeated WtF not long ago, albeit quite differently than Sharma IIRC.

This is terrible news. I was so pumped to see what was going to happen when the “Dream Team” got on the wall.

Its too bad those guys are getting shut down, but its great that Chris is headed back to Clark, it’s such a great crag, it deserves more development. Best of luck to him on the new project.

I don’t blame him for moving on but it’s kinda
    disappointing.
