New Routes In Borneo From Woods, Hirayama & Pearson

Daniel Woods, Yuji Hirayam and James Pearson are part of a team in Borneo shooting footage for an upcoming Reel Rock Film Tour segment.  The team is exploring the granite climbing on the 13,435 ft. Mt. Kinabalu, and each climber has managed to find some noteworthy success according to the Reel Rock Tour Facebook page.

Daniel Woods psyched after freeing Tinipi, a possible 5.15a bolted by Yuji Hirayama

James Pearson on a “crazy” 5.14ish route

Yuji Hirayama also pretty psyched after freeing his two pitch project, Pogulian Do Koduduo, which features a 5.14d second pitch

There is no questioning the impeccable record and achievements of Yuji Hirayama, a true climbing hero. But still, bolting and climbing 14d/15a at 13,000 feet in Borneo? It’s hard to see the meaning in that. It seems so arbitrary
