Shawn Raboutou Climbs 5.14b At Age 13

Earlier this summer 13 year-old Shawn Raboutou climbed his first 5.14b in Rodellar, Spain’s Welcome To Tijuana.  UKClimbing caught up with Shawn, sister Brooke and mom Robyn to talk briefly about their summer and their approach to climbing.

Question… If the article is supposed to be about Shawn and Brooke why is it that it somehow becomes an interview with Robin…and a promotional piece for her company.
I’ve seen this in almost every article and video piece…it’s VERY apparent to anyone who knows these kids and the family that Robin is certainly living vicariously through her children. Oh yeah one other thing…the reason everyone is getting so good…???
No it’s not because of some ABC secret training method…take your children to Europe every summer and have them climb French Limestone…and then hole up in Rodellar for weeks on end and something magical happens…you start to send routes…AMAZING CONCEPT…!!!

Yeah I noticed that too… Robin gets in there at every opportunity… Have you EVER seen an interview with Adam O’s parents ? It’s a little strange…

I’m not sure you can really draw a comparison like that since we don’t know much about Ondra’s family and he is also much older than the Raboutou kids. Besides, why do parents have kids if not to live vicariously through their youth??

Umm…exactly…they stay out of the way…not poking their head in to say…HEY…! WHAT ABOUT ME… Come on man… she isn’t the first stage mom…
