Potential V14 FA In RMNP By Dave Graham

Potential V14 FA In RMNP By Dave Graham

Dave Graham has been keeping busy of late doing what else but looking for new boulders.  His recent hunt has taken him to Colorado’s RMNP and more specifically to the Endo Valley area of the park.  This is where, just yesterday, he did the FA of a potential V14 he’s calling Glow In The Dark Estrellas.  Writing on his 8a scorecard Graham had this to say about the line:

WOW. sick new zone, sick new problem. Pure compression. I am not sure if it is 8b+ for everyone…if you are shorter, it may be impossible, yet if you are taller, it could become more 8b or 8a+ even? At 2 meters? That said, its certainly a morphological problem, but is certainly more difficult then the Big Worm in Mt. Evans, for my height. The crux move is at my full extension, and is followed by a terrible toe-hook match, which is extra cabron. SYKED.

And for reference here’s a picture of the boulder he posted to his twitter account:

It must be freezing up there still!! Think this year’s alpine bouldering season will be as productive as last year’s? If Emerson & The Sharp End get that guide out, there will certainly be more traffic, if nothing else.

Hard to say. Probably depends on if the main players from last summer are even in CO this summer.

The guide will certainly bring increased crowds this summer, hopefully not until after June 24th though…

Is there news about the new guide? Think it’ll be out by late July?

Best part of this is the heads-up that Graham’s on Twitter. Note the trailing underscore though.

Agreed. I also think it would be pretty sweet if Woods was tweeting about his Euro trip.

    @ Narc,
You should for sure bring a shovel if you want to make sure you get to climb on the boulders you want. This year the snow is at 160% of normal capacity for this time of year. While Evans tends to melt out faster than the Park, a nice snowboard shovel is what most of us pack–or else you’re stuck with what other people have dug out. I’d also recommend bringing 3 pairs of socks on a day trip. One for the hike up, one for the day and the hike down, and one for the car ride home. Well that and pants/short, down jacket/rain jacket, etc… etc… etc…

Sounds like fun! As long as Whispers is dug out and has a well groomed
      landing I’ll be happy…

Or you could just leave all the snow in the landing zones and go snowloing.
