Norway’s Therese Johansen reports on her blog (in Norweigan) and on the Five Ten blog (in English) that she did the 2nd ascent of Bernd Zangerl’s Propaganda in Vingsand, Norway. Given a grade of V13 by Zangerl, Johansen says that she used slightly different beta so she’s unsure if the problem is V12 or V13.

Whether the problem is or is not V13 is up for debate (and ultimately not that important in the grand scheme of things), but if, for the sake of argument, it were V13 Johansen would be on a very short list of women to have climbed V13.

At this point the list is not long with Angie Payne’s repeat of The Automator in RMNP and Anna Stöhr’s repeat of The Riverbed in Magic Wood among the only ones I can think of off the top of my head. Either way, it’s nice to hear Johansen’s honest opinion about the climb, and I think we can look forward to hearing more from her in the coming months and years.
