Climberism Magazine

Climberism Magazine

Not much time to write this week unfortunately, but I wanted to draw your attention to an online magazine I’ve been checking out recently, Climberism.  Climberism is an online website/magazine similar to Deadpoint Magazine, albeit on a smaller scale at this point.  Unlike DPM and the print magazines, Climberism is focused mainly on climbing in the northeast:

Climberism Magazine is northeast climbing. We live for epic Adirondack climbs surrounded by fall foliage, the dinner plate ice in sub-zero temps, and the humidity that has the rocks slicker than the Vermont butter on your maple pancakes. We are the clam chowder in your thermos, the microbrew on top of Mt. Washington, and the muddy crash pad when spring season breaks.

We’re not just any climbing, we’re northeast climbing.

Issue 5 of Climberism was just released, and while it follows the familiar climbing magazine template as far as layout and design is concerned, its focus solely on one region of the country made for some interesting content.  You can check out Issue 5 for yourself, as well as all the back issues, by clicking here.  (The issues are free provided you are willing to go through a brief sign-up process)

While I think the whole “Online Magazine” thing has come a long way, this one is still in it’s infancy and was a bit of a waste of time.

Why? Because it’s doing something different? Not showing the latest Daniel Woods V-F-ING-Ridiculous?

Hey now! We may have a short rock season, but we do have some awesome climbing. Plus, Climberism is much better than the latest issue of Midwestern Alpinist 😛

I think the best part about the mag is that it’s relevant to a group of people, brings exposure to the area, and hypes the fact that so much good climbing does exist in the region. Regardless I though it was nicely done. As someone who has met the creator, I know he has put a lot of time into growing this on his own. Thanks for sharing this Narc.

The northeast has some rock, some great bouldering (but you’ve gotta ask nicely), and no they can’t claim the New no matter how much they want to!

No really a fan of the online mags. I love deadpointmag but still don’t like having to zoom in and zoom out. Can’t wait till it gets better.

I don’t mind the online mag so much. it is like most things you have to get use to it. sure it needs to develop somemore. i wish is was not flash tho.
