Big Up’s Take On First Round First Minute

Big Up’s Take On First Round First Minute

At this point the “controversy” surrounding Chris Sharma’s First Round First Minute project has been well documented and more or less run its course.

However, since I was unable to post about this at the time I wanted to be sure and share the take of Josh Lowell from Big Up Productions as his opinion seems especially pertinent:

This internet controversy about First Round First Minute has gotten out of hand. I respect everyone’s right to debate the pluses and minuses of a nebulous concept like red-tagging.

But I hope people will remember that this is not a big conflict between Chris and Nalle, only between observers who don’t know either person, have incomplete information, and are generally not involved with equipping routes or making first ascents.

I read the full post a little while ago, and even though it is long it is worth the read. On an unrelated note La Sportiva just put up this cool interview with Daniel Woods. He talks about the game and his motivations, and future wife!

Agreed, I saw that today as well. One of his better interviews if you ask me.

That’s the best DW interview I’ve ever read. Makes me respect the guy a bit more, and certainly gives some insight to his persona. Can’t wait to hear more about those first ascents he has planned.

Josh Lowell from Big Up is talking like an ass in my opinion, he is essentially putting down all those that support his climbing video’s. There is bound to be issues with information, and the ill informed, but to come down on people is kind of lame. And no shit we don’t know Chris or Nalle personally, apparently only the people that do sign their paychecks… Give me a break, who blogged about it in the first place? Dig deep and one shall find! Thanks for the post!

Really, folks are still talking about this despite kids are out there doing v16. To the one who runs this website. Unless you are trying to keep this debate going please just take this down. Folks who are informed know what josh has said. This post just continues this debate for a longer period of time. If you feel like expressing your opinion

    Express them here

Even dead point mag has dropped this garbage.

As the one who runs this website I would say that not everyone is “informed” which is why I posted this link. I do, however, agree that the need for discussion on this site is over which is why I am closing the comments on this post.
