Deadpoint Magazine launched their first annual Photo & Video edition with a slew of new online videos and a new edition of their free magazine. The magazine, which you can view by clicking here, has the usual slate of interviews, stories and of course pictures. For being billed as a photo annual, I was a bit disappointed with how the pictures come across in the online reader. Zooming in on the pictures to get a better look at what was happening seems to result in the image getting blurry which was not good in my opinion.
In conjunction with the magazine, there were a bunch of new videos added to the DPM HDTV area as well. The main offering is the premier of Colorado Glow, a climbing video that actually tries to have a plot of all things. While there are obvious jokes to be made about a (climbing) porn trying to have a plot, the end result is still pretty cool.
Here is the full rundown of videos:
- Colorado Glow
- Justin Edl on his new 5.14 crack climbing Vedauwoo
- Rob Pizem climbing a new trad line, Aqualung (5.13a), at Mt. Evans
- Jason Kehl shaping holds
- Rocktoberfest 2009
- Brandi Proffit bouldering in New Mexico

Narc,
We are uploading a better quality PDF now. It should be up to snuff by tonight. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

pg. 77 is rather hilariously mislabeled as being the route Whimsical Dreams in the South Platte, Colorado, with El Capitan in plain sight in the background of the shot…yes folks, we have people putting out climbing mags now who don’t recognize El Cap. Awesome.

Nice catch. We caught that too. Keith sent a lot of photos with captions separate in an email. We are correcting it now. Thanks for the positive feedback.

I thought Colorado Glow was very entertaining, and had good camerawork.
Honestly to get a video of that quality and length for free is just… kickass!

re: Colorado Glow.
So, the plot is something like “explosions and effects are fun!” I couldn’t detect any logic to when the titular glow showed up, and there wasn’t any cohesive narrative I could identify.
On the plus side, most of the camera work was a solid B+ and a few of the problems look really aesthetic and fun.
Overall, it was interesting, but the “story” didn’t add anything for me and I think the effects were more distracting than engaging.

Should have added: Props to all involved for the dedication and obvious talent. I’m psyched to see more LT11 work in the future.

Julian: That’s good constructive feedback.
