News & Notes – 1/30/2009

Since I usually forget half the items I want to use for the News & Notes posts, I started posting them as I find them on the top of the front page of Climbingnarc.com.  To avoid clutterring your RSS reader, these individual posts are not published to the RSS feed.  At the end of each week I will post a digest of sorts to the RSS feed that summarizes the week’s News & Notes.  Make sense?

Here is this week’s news:

  • Guidebook author and all around strong climber Matt Wilder has launched a new blog.  Check it out for recent news on a new V11/12 in Colorado’s Frontrange.
  • Dream In Vertical has an excellent post recapping the pros and cons of several ropes they have used over the past several years.
  • Carlo Traversi and Emily Harrington won their respective divisions at this weekend’s SCS Adult National Championships.  There is a highlight reel now playing at MVM.
  • A couple of good interviews to check out:  one with Paul Robinson and the other with Alex Honnold.
  • If you are going to be in Boulder for ABS Nationals, one event that might be worth checking out is the recently announced Meetup with Steph Davis on Friday 2/13.  Davis will also be giving a slideshow Thursday at Neptune Mountaineering.
  • Rockclimbing.com has 3 nice write-ups on the climbing side of the recent Outdoor Retailer trade show in Salt Lake City.  Check them out:  Day 1, Day 2, Day 3.
  • If you are looking for some information on how to turn a Honda CR-V into a travelling camper, here they are.
