Plan D Part 4: The Tombstone Left

Plan D Part 4: The Tombstone Left

To wrap up this series of ego boosts for T-Boz here is a sequence of photos of him climbing the left side of the Tombstone (not sure if it has a name or not).  Regrettably he botched his flash attempt due to uncontrollable laughter, but sent in good form on his 2nd attempt.

While not all that difficult on the V-scale (V2ish?, maybe easier), this problem requires one to have a full trust in their Devil’s Lake climbing skills.  You have to use small feet and trust an insecure jam in the slick quartzite as you pass the point of no return.  The point of no return being that moment on any tall problem were continuing up is going to be easier, and more desirable, than finding a way to go down.  Check out the below gallery for the full sequence.

Hopefully you enjoyed these past few installments as much as I enjoyed sharing in the moments depicted.  It continues to amaze how much enjoyment I can get out of climbing sessions even when I am physically unable to participate.

Does having orange tape on your busted up glasses make you more or less of a nerd? I am just trying to stay hip with what the young people are doing.

quartzite is bollocks for point-of-no-return-climbing. as is 1) polished granite 2) tucson mountain chaos and 3) volcanic tuff. so happy to be back in the high-friction sandstone of the south. woot. as an aside: the red river gorge is stupid rad right now.

That must be why everyone I know is going there this weekend even with gas over $4 a gallon

The effects of the orange tape is negligable compared to the nerdiness earned by rolling up my pants while leaving my long johns unrolled.
