Recently, a sort of mini Petzl Roc Trip was held at the Scalatabel Climbing Festival near Thaurac in the South of France. Well known pro climbers like Dave Graham, Chris Sharma, Lynn Hill and Steve McClure were on hand to do some climbing and have a good time (drunkenly onsighting .12ds?).
The craziest part of the event is that the bolts were placed specifically for the festival and they were being removed afterwards so as not to bother tourists that flock to a nearby cave. For a full write-up on the event, check out the article that 8a put together from their trip.
Here is my favorite snippet about Dave Graham trying to convince Chris Sharma that he needs an 8a.nu spraysheet along with Chris’s answer:
he should be representing and all he need is to remember 10 routes and then he would be up there among the best.
But I don’t even know some of the grades of the routes that I climb
Below is a nice video of the event put together by Laurent Triay (No english website currently). The climbing begins about half way through the video.
You can also check out a separate video of Chris Sharma trying (and failing) to onsight a 5.13d followed by Steve McClure breaking off something proper and getting the onsight. Steve also made the first ascent of a 5.14b.
