First Repeat Of 20+ Year-Old 5.14 By Cody Roth

Late last year Cody Roth managed the first repeat of a route called Malvasia (5.14c after broken holds) in Croatia some 20+ years after its first ascent by Mauricio “Manolo” Zanolla.  PlanetMountain has an excellent article about this that includes thoughts from Manolo on how he first discovered the area and how he envisioned and realized this climb in particular.

The more I discover about “Manolo” Zanolla (5.15a at age 48, etc) the more I wonder how I never heard of him during the past couple of decades here in the States. It would be like saying I’d never heard of Ron Kauk. Did I miss the boat, or are there others like me just now realizing what an amazing climber this guy has been and still is?

      And about him:
      – 5.13b in freesolo
      – 5.14a on sight

      Amazing!
