UBC Pro Tour At 2010 ORSM Streaming Live Online, Live Blogged Here

Hi there.  Hello.  Um, how does this blogging stuff work again??

In case you hadn’t noticed I went on a bit of a vacation these past couple of weeks visiting a few National Parks and doing a bit of climbing in the not-so-under-the-radar-anymore area known as Ten Sleep Canyon.  The trip was good times on all fronts, but it was a bit tough to be away from you, the loyal reader, for such a long stretch of time.

In any event, the climbing world chugged along in my absence and I hope to have a brief recap of notable happenings that took place in my absence soon-ish.  Until then, I wanted to give a heads up about the upcoming stop of the Unified Bouldering Championships at the 2010 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City that kicks off 2 weeks from today.  The event will be streaming live online for those who can’t be in attendance, and much like last year I will also be doing a live blog of the streaming coverage on this site for those who can’t watch the live stream or for those who are looking for a place to sound off about the event as it unfolds.  Look for that Tuesday, August 3rd around 7:30 MST.

Here is the full press release on the comp:

The Unified Bouldering Championships Pro Tour at the 2010 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market Presented by Eastern Mountain Sports and The North Face.

Northampton, MA (July 5th 2010) – The UBC PRO TOUR IS BIG, BAD AND BACK! This Summer, the marquee event of the North American professional bouldering calendar, the Unified Bouldering Championships Pro tour lands in Salt Lake City August 2nd & 3rd 2010 for the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market (ORSM). The best pro climbers in the world will compete for a $10,000 cash purse on the biggest stage in climbing.

Presented by returning partner Eastern Mountain Sports, and a new partner in The North Face, the 2010 UBC Pro Tour at ORSM will continue to elevate the sport of bouldering as the highpoint of the biggest industry gathering of the year. Consistent with the NE2C Productions spirit of innovation, the event will continue to break new ground for professional climbing in North America, being broadcast live online on Tuesday August 3rd With Pro Semi-Finals at 9am MST/ 11am EST and Pro Finals at 7:30pm MST/9pm EST at www.video.boulderingcomps.com! Climbers from around the world can tune in to catch the action live as it unfolds.

Since 2007, NE2C Productions has brought events to ORSM that continue to raise the bar for bouldering. “Our event at the ORSM has always been the highpoint of the competition season for us and every year the top athletes do something more ludicrous than we ever thought possible. Seeing Daniel Woods finally break through in 2009 after two straight years of Chris Sharma showing everyone why he’s the best was an amazing moment and we’re honestly just giddy at the thought of what’s going to go down in 2010,” says Pete Ward, Managing Partner of NE2C. “I’m getting stoked just thinking about it.”

“Eastern Mountain Sports is on a mission to bring youth into the sport of climbing,” Will Manzer, CEO of Eastern Mountain Sports, explains. “By showcasing the amazing athletic talent of iconic climbers, the UBC Pro Tour is the perfect platform for getting young people excited about the sport. We’re thrilled to be a part of the ORSM comp and can’t wait for the championships at the Nor’easter Festival in September.”

The 2010 Unified Bouldering Championships Pro Tour takes place August 2nd & 3rd and will be broadcast live at www.video.boulderingcomps.com. Pro Semi Finals begin live at 9amMSTand tune in for Pro Finals at 7pm MST. Any chance of recording the livestream for later viewing? I won’t be in town and sometimes the highlight reel doesn’t do justice!
