Last year I ran a contest giving away Access Fund Holiday Prize Packs, and I enjoyed it so much we’re doing it again this year.
Like last year the rules will remain simple. To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post about whatever you have on your mind these days. The number of prize packs given out will be determined by the level of participation, the more people that comment the more prize packs I will give out. I’d like to aim for 1 prize pack per 50 entries, but that is subject to change. You have until Wednesday, November 18th to enter.
The prize will be the Basic Holiday Package, here is what you can win:
- A 1-year Access Fund Membership to help keep your crags open
- A 1-year subscription to Rock & Ice magazine (a $30 value)!
- Access Fund organic cotton tee T-shirt from prAna
- Omega Pacific keylock biner engraved with “Access Fund”
- prAna Signature Hemp Cap to keep your noggin cool
- RESTOP bag system: just because a bear goes in the woods doesn’t mean you should
- Higher Ground Roasters’ Access Fund Brew
- Seasonal flavored Clif Bars (think gingerbread and pumpkin spice)
This is open to U.S. and international readers alike, so spread the word. If you don’t happen to win, you are strongly encouraged to support the Access Fund, or your local access organization, on your own in any way that you are able to.
Keep in mind that all the ad revenue generated by this site goes to access causes like this. Every time you click an ad AND buy something, you are helping keep your crags open and functioning.
only 12 days left till a week of bishoprimpy-fest! whoot!

LAst week my mind has been fulltime of that nasty blue 6a route at My local climbing gym. How to get to those last two recling holds on the overhang? Tried to figure out this puzzle in my head, tonight i’ll go for it again!

My name is William, and I support this activity.

has been thinking about el Potrero for new years, just got the idea of Pico de Orizaba in my head today.

sweet deal. coffee and rock and ice for the morning wakeup, and then a shirt and biner to send some gunks routes.

Great contest! The only thing on my mind is when I can climb hard again, because now I’m stuck with 2 finger pully injuries..

pondering a couple of yet unfinished projects that will have to wait until spring, and also wondering when the best time to blow off work for a week at red rocks is going to be…
loading...
What is on my mind these days? I have not climbed since spring, and I am thinking how content I can be leading a 5.6 the Gunks. I work a real job that often keeps me at a desk and cannot afford the time or the cost of sharpening my climbing skills week after week, or even weekend after weekend, especially not at my age of 50+. Give me a blue sky, sun on face, the aroma of spruce, and bare knuckles against sun warmed rock while on a 5.5 or 5.6 any day and I will be content.

I love your site – always something worth reading. Keep up the great work. I just got back from HCR with my wife and 3 children 11, 8, and 5. The best part was snuggling all together outside on a blanket, looking straight up at the milky way and catching some shooting stars. Not many things in life better than that. Peace, Jason

Excited and nervous about moving to Utah in less than a month. Can’t wait to check out LCC and joe’s. Hope the economy actually has room for new graduates out there. Peace.

Free stuff is awesome.

I’m dirt poor right now. Bring on the freebies!!

I am at work and just got off the phone with a customer service rep in Colorado. He told me it was 70°F there. All I was thinking about during the call (instead of bandwidth and technical stuff) was climbing on some sweet, sweet stone in warm weather.
loading...
I’m thinking that when gravity calls, sometimes you shouldn’t pick up…
(and that a sprained ankle sucks and is motivating all at the same time..)
Thanks for the contest!

I have a kid on the way and need all the inspiration I can get to beleive that my climbing life won’t be negatively affected. Hook it up. Thats what I’m thinking about.

My yearly Access Fund membership is just about due up, what a coincidence. Support the AF!

Woohoo, free stuff!! Narc, you just treat all of us hooligans so nicely!

Thanks for the great site, it makes staying up on the latest climbing news and videos so much easier. I have really enjoyed this site and it has only helped affirm my love for climbing!

I am thinking about Rumney, that beautiful Schist, a nice Old brown dog ale, camping at Baker…ripping my tips to shreds!

Yay booty!

What’s on my mind is: will shaving all my body hair off my make me climb better? Would my friends think this is weird? Would I care if I climbed two grades harder?
Just one of my many thoughts.

I just (re)discovered the five ten blog. Some interesting news you won’t find anywhere else (even here ;-))

“The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he’s always doing both”
– Thanks little brother for this amazing quote-

Just got back from a pretty sweet long weekend climbing sport at HCR- recommendations go out to everyone!

The other day I was thinking about the efficacy of a blown-gun propelled syringe of adrenaline or super oxegenated blood (http://www.popsci.com/scitech/article/2006-11/better-blood) at the crux of a route.
Ethics?

On my mind right now:
“How to complete my basement bouldering wall in time so that my 3 year old daughter can try it out on her birthday in a couple of weeks!”

Re: climbing. What’s on my mind is people who talk way more than is helpful to anyone and climb far less than is logical (until it hurts of course). Climbing is not about the best, the hardest, the longest or the strongest. For me anyway, climbing is about being obsessed with an awesome sport and wanting nothing more than to be continually improving and sending harder (whatever hard may be for you). A track coach once said, “talk slow, run fast.” I think a climber would echo this thought, “climb hard, speak softly.”
Cheers

My wife and I just had a our first child. Henry is a killer little guy but the reality of him means I’m not going on a bouldering trip any time soon. All I’ve got to tide me over is reading climbing mags, coming to this site and trying not to buy a bunch of gear online. So maybe winning this will help me from ripping my hair out.

recovering from broken ankle, perusing climbing mags and watching climbing videos. Awaiting the time when hands and feet can touch rock once again. For now only send is a climb up 3 flights of stairs.

For some reason, if you have two coprime ideals, any two powers of those ideals will still be coprime. But I’m having trouble proving this. So that’s what I woke up thinking about today, and I’m still thinking about it.

Chris sharma’s been climbing for more than a couple decades, but he’s only improved like a quarter degrees ( from 14.d to 15.a ) , I wonder if this is almost the most a human being is able to climb …

A holiday pack would be awesome! Looking forward to some ice climbing in the North East in the next couple of weeks.

Thank God it’s not raining!!!

Hoping the pretty pictures in Rock & Ice could cure my hangover after the Pixies concert last night

How I’m going to manage to get outside more often next month. This fall has been abysmal for crimping and sloper…ing(?)

I’m getting addicted to climbing chalks !
loading...
ON MY MIND: I have lived in Florida almost my entire life and have been addicted to climbing for several years. I was a member of the local climbing gym going five days a week or more (even when I was too sore to climb I still went to show support and belay). My co-workers and I spent a lot of money taking climbing trips (no rockclimbing in Florida). Now I live in Colombia amongst the mountains but I have only gone climbing four times since January. What the hell is wrong with me? A few years ago I had dreamed of living amongst the mountains so that I could climb some real rock more often; now I live here and I am not taking advantage to the situation! Maybe some Access Fund gear will help me get out of this rut!

I could use those free goodies when I travel to Malta next month to check out the climbing there. I can’t wait to check out the routes!!
Not a bad way to spend the Christmas Holidays for someone who is 51. 🙂 Climb on Women!

I have realized that a person cannot try to hold onto life when all that makes them do is let go. I have recently let go! Climbing reminds me of what it is to be free and caught up where time doesn’t exist :). I know this is almost the last day to comment, but man those cliff bars look yummy haha.

I can’t wait to throw on that hat and shirt so that I can be stylin’ while I enjoy a cup of joe and a festive bar. That portable toilet sure will come in handy because you never know when the terror of coffee and fiber will strike. Thank god I’ll have some reading material because it might take a while. Luckily that carabiner will keep my keys from falling out of my pocket while I’m squatin’.

Thanks to everyone who entered. Sorry to hear so many of you are injured!
The winners will be announced soon.
