Hound Ears 2009 Video: Max Zolotukhin Repeating Random Man (V11)

Dave Wetmore put together a short video of Max Zolotukhin and company doing the first repeat* of Random Man (V11, FA James Litz 2001) at this year’s Hound Ears Triple Crown event.  Check out the rest of Dave’s blog for a lot of interesting stuff from the Rumney scene.  An update on Phil Schaal’s gnarly skin problems that plagued him at the comp is here.

    How that Max gentleman climbs in pants that tight is beyond me. I could actually hear his package yelling for relief. And no i wasn’t staring at his crotch it was just hard not to notice…. ok, shit i feel kind of gay now. but seriously how do you climb in clothing like that?

    see but i could see how you could easily climb in that. very flexible *cough and sexy*. but like skin tight cords or jeans or whatever those were. I could never do that. also note my nickname. i climb very scrunchy though and need to be able to bring my feet high.

    On one occasion I witnessed Max completely tear the ass out of his skin tight pantaloons, then he nabbed the second ascent of a horribly sharp v11 he downgraded…Point is, no one, and nothing, will change his style, which is atypical of the climbing scene, but seems to work for him just fine, even though my eyeballs melted.

    were you aware that max and i went to spain. he made out with a slovenian girl. we met some dutch kids. they stick clipped a route in the ali baba cave by each grabbing rope and swinging it around. like a jumprope. it was dubbed “the double dutch method”. there was also this kid named mike foley there. he only got 18th in youth nationals so we don’t usually talk about him.
