When Nate called me last weekend to let me know he saw Chris Sharma down at Kentucky’s Red River Gorge I knew it wouldn’t be long before the news of hard sends started to trickle out. Unlike during last year’s Petzl Roctrip when hot and humid conditions prevented pros like Sharma from getting much done, Fall is in full effect right now down in Kentucky. So far Sharma has onsighted Transworld Depravity (5.14a, 1st onsight?) and made a quick 3rd go repeat of Mike Doyle‘s Lucifer (5.14c).
Not surprisingly, there are several media types (Mike Call, Boone Speed, etc.) hanging out at the Red as well. MC just posted a video of Daila Ojeda sending Dracula ‘04 (5.13b) at MVM. Check it out to get a glimpse of one of the Red’s higher quality 5.13’s.
With a couple of the harder established routes out of the way, Sharma has turned his attention to an “insane project” he bolted on the far right side of the Drive-by crag. With conditions getting perfect and other pro climber types (Joe Kinder among others) on the scene, it should be interesting to see what else goes down. Stay tuned!
I missed him by one week! Of course, I’m sure he’ll be attacking some lines that are a bit out of my league.

My inside sources tell me that there may also be a hard suposed .15 @ bob marley as well. who knows.

i also have heard of this 15 at marley…

i thought the project at marley was only .13c once i found some sneaky heel-toe lock beta to take weight and ease the tension of the crux substantially… though i didn’t consider it an FA until i do it from the much more obvious sit-start holds.
