Yes, I had surgery on Friday to correct one of several ailments that have been bothering me recently. Typing is a bit difficult so details will have to wait until later. Basically, tendon was harvested from my forearm to sew up my left thumb. This was to correct its extreme laxity that would have brought on arthritis by age 30 if left unchecked.
As I was being wheeled into the OR, I was greeted by the voice of Axel Rose crooning the Guns ‘n’ Roses Song Patience. The irony of this song being played at that very moment was not lost on me despite being half way in the bag. It perfectly encompassed all that I need to be thinking about during this continued stretch of non-climbing. Patience. Simple as that.
need a little patience…
just a little patience…
some more patience…
could use some patience…
gotta have some patience…
all it takes is patience
just a little patience is all you need
