Question. As of last night, Tommy’s gotten through the last 5.14 pitch, but Kevin’s still struggling with Pitch 15. Does that mean that Kevin’s jugging up to belay Tommy, and then going back down to try pitch 15? Or is someone else belaying Tommy while Kevin hangs out below?
If Kevin is jugging up, how high is he “allowed” to do this? What if Tommy sends the whole route, with Kevin belaying, and then Kevin lowers back down to keep trying pitch 15? Would this still count as Kevin sending?
Read somewhere that they’ve decided to go for the team free ascent, meaning both won’t necessarily send each pitch in order to move on. I believe they’re individually giving each pitch 5-6 good goes, and if one doesn’t send they move on to the next, as long as at least the other has sent.
