Yeah I can’t wait to see what she does next! So awesome. And I think she’s friends with Brooke Raboutu, so they can push one another in a friendly way.
I know in advance that A) my comment is going to be attacked with a whole bunch of people saying, “hey man, shut up, dont be a hater, shes amazing!” and B)This has probably been talked about before. But you know what, i dont care.
I will also say in advance that yes, Ashima is a great climber and will continute to wow everyone in the future. BUT I do think it needs to be stated that it is, NOT to me at least, that impressive when someone who weights…74lbs and who has tiny little fingers does these sorts of things. Bouldering, more than anything is determined by your strength to weight ratio, and it does not take a mathematical superhero to realize that ashima does not need to be all that strong in order to pull off the things she does. Her tiny fingers turn micro crimps and cracks into…well NOT micro at all. Her dedication and talent are outstanding and not being questioned. But when someone who weights 170 lbs is able to climb an overhanging v13, i say, “shit that person is strong”. When someone who weights 80 lbs does it i say, “cool good job, but lets see her do that with 50 more lbs on her body”.
then again maybe i should find something else to do rather than writing long winded comments on climbingnarc.
This would be a valid point if there were shit loads of light, tiny children crushing V13’s out there but there just isn’t, it’s just Ashima. Regardless of weight, there are very few people who climb V13 out there at all, especially after only 4 years of climbing.
If you’re most impressed by massive feats of strength rather than by actual rock climbing I suggest you start watching strongman competitions or power lifting; you might find them more impressive. Personally, I’m amazed by Ashima’s technique and maturity of movement at such a young age more than anything. Power to weight ratio is useless if you can’t apply it.
that was beautifully shot! also, seeing her have so much fun is inspiring! I need to focus more and have more fun with my climbing… It’s entirely too often that I find myself climbing to show off or feel impressive… Climbing should feel like play-time
adam ondra is shitting himself, and your just playing on the playground. i hope you have the same fun energy for years to come GO GIRL. and btw attacking these kids for being good is just so yesterday
Very valid point regarding the fact that there are no other young people her age on v13s…
There is no doubt that ashima is a climbing prodigy. I just think that, for right now, she is sort of playing at a different game with her tiny body. apologies to those who found my remarks offensive and hater ish.
it’d be interesting if she was psyched on indian creek. bd greens might be perfect/solid hands for her, super crack could be a heinous off width or something.
that was impressive…

There’s no need to attack your comment, as we’ve all heard it before and you know the responses, you just don’t care.
However, we can remind you of our dislike for this particular opinion by downrating your comment to oblivion.

the clip of her on full service left me speachless, too bad it didnt have the same effect on you….

Funny thing is; that i never see a whole bunch of kids climbing V10 and up in the places where i have climbed. Let alone do a V13.

Seriously. She’s ahead of Adam Ondra’s progression. It’s going to be crazy to see her keep improving.

Is no one going to comment on how she started ‘Barefoot on Sacred Ground’ from one move in?
That said, the grabbing of non-holds that she did on Nagual and terre de siene was unreal.

am I the only person who thinks that the title of this video is kind of racist?

No. Other racists are probably that focused on race too.
