The news on 8a.nu is that French crimp master Tony Lamiche is coming back to America:
Kairn : Your projects?
Tony : Beginning of septembre, I will leave for the US for a 2 months and
half bouldering trip.
I will go to Kentucky, at Red River Gorges where I will join some great
climbers such as Daniel Woods for bouldering. Then I will go to the Rocky
Mountain National Park (RMNP) and then to Bishop.
Three weeks for each place
The time in Kentucky will undoubtedly coincide with the upcoming Petzl Roc Trip, October 12-14. Hopefully the reference to him bouldering at the RRG is just a translation issue…the Red isn’t exactly a world class bouldering destination. At any rate, I don’t see how any of the projects down there will withstand the climbing talent that will be visiting but one never knows. Maybe I should actually try and be down there for the event.
If the name doesn’t ring a bell here is a list of problems he crushed in 1 day at the Little Rock City Triple Crown Bouldering event in 2006:
Flying High V11 (recently established by him), The White Face V11, Dragon Slayer V12 (long standing project recently established by him), The Law V11, Biggie Shorty V10, New Sensations V11 (recently established by him), Bed Wetters V10, King Cobra V10, and wrapped up his day with The Chattanoogan V12.
Here are two videos of him crimping so hard it makes my fingers hurt just watching. First up is him on his V14 Mandala SDS at the Buttermilks followed by him making a repeat of Dave Graham’s The Fly (5.14d/V14ish?) at Rumney.

The Frontrange is also on notice…
That’s a great idea (suggested a time or two)!! 🙂

I hope Tony comes back! I had the fortune to hang out with him a bunch when he came to the southeast last year. I can honestly say that Tony is one of the nicest, most creative, and strongest people I’ve met. If you want to see some photos from his last trip to the states click on Nov 2006 in the archives of my blog. Word,
ps. B. the new site looks nice!
