New Campground Coming To The New River Gorge

The American Alpine Club has announced plans to open a climber’s campground at the New River Gorge on 40 acres of land they’ve purchased in Fayetteville, WV.  The campground, which is expected to take 2 years to build, will hold 50-60 campsites and “will be developed specifically with climbers in mind and will allow for extended stays at inexpensive rates.

DPM Interviews Porter Jarrard

DPM has a nice interview up with Red River Gorge legend Porter Jarrard who, at age 44, is climbing as well as he ever has with multiple 5.14a sends to his name in the last year.

Action Alert For North Carolina’s Chimney Rock State Park

The Access Fund has an alert on their website concerning a plan being proposed for North Carolina’s Chimney Rock State Park.  The plan allows for continued climbing at established areas within the park like the bouldering at Rumbling Bald, but it places limits on the climbing allowed in many other areas.  Check the Access Fund’s site to learn more and see how you can make your voice heard.

Paul Robinson Repeats Ninja Skills (V14)

27Crags reports that Paul Robinson did the 2nd ascent of Nalle Hukkataival’s Ninja Skills, a beautiful and long V14 in Sobrio, Switzerland. According to the report Robinson felt it compared in difficulty to Dreamtime (V14) which he did recently as well. You can see footage of Hukkataival’s FA of Ninja Skills in this excellent video.

2 Swiss V15s For Adam Ondra

According to his scorecard Adam Ondra did his 2nd V15 in as many days yesterday with a repeat of Dave Graham’s From Dirt Grows The Flowers in Chironico, Switzerland.  On Monday he repeated Big Paw, a V15 also in Chironico and also first done by Dave Graham.  Ondra comments on his scorecard that both might be V14/15 but admits he isn’t an expert in boulder grades.

Brion Voges Lost In The Hood
