Over in the UK this weekend is a really cool annual event called The Climbing Works International Festival:
On the weekend of 15th & 16th March one of the biggest indoor bouldering competitions in Europe will take place at The Climbing Works, Sheffield, England.
The Climbing Works International Festival (The CWIF) returns for its 8th year with 350 competitors taking part in the Saturday qualifiers. In amongst that 350 we have 4 of the top 10 females from the 2013 World Cup circuit as well as the 2012 Male Bouldering World Cup champion and the first person to flash 9a. There are also a number of climbers in that group who have climbed Font 8b/8c…so not a bad field really.
Alongside the crème de la crème of the current British climbing scene (Mina Leslie Wujastyk, Shauna Coxsey, Ned Feehally, Tom Newman, Leah Crane to name a few) we’ve also attracted a fantastic international array of talent. We have, amongst many others, Alex Megos (GER), Rustam Gelmanov (RUS), Mina Markovic (SLO), Gabri Moroni (ITA), Melissa La Neve (FRA) all coming to test themselves before the World Cup season properly begins.
Setting for this competition will be World Cup setters Percy Bishton (GBR), Jamie Cassidy (GBR) & Robert Heinrich(GER) as well as a team of Britain’s finest.
