New Bloc Times

The bouldering in Australia’s Grampians, and the sector Buandik in particular, has gotten wide attention the past couple of years as climbers like Nalle Hukkataival, Dave Graham, Daniel Woods, Ian Dory, Paul Robinson and others have visited, raising the area’s profile considerably1.  As is often the case though, they are not the first climbers to visit these “new” areas.

For more background on some of the local activity that has taken place before, during and after these climbers’ visits, the blog New Bloc Times has a nice collection of words, pictures and videos that describe more of the history of these incredible looking areas.

I think Dave Graham is omnipresent. He seems to be climbing everywhere, all the time.

It’s funny how all this info only comes out when the likes of Dave and Nalle actually tell people about how good it is down there and these secretive Kellerman fellas feel like their glory is being stolen. If they weren’t so greedy about getting all the FA’s and just published what they had done as they did it they wouldn’t have this issue of “we were there first”

Is it really too hard to actually read more then two paragraphs???

“Unfortunately, the area suffered a severe bushfire in early 2013 which left large regions of the Park closed most of the year. The native flora and fauna is no where near recovered, and out of respect for the bush and at the request of Cliffcare we have been withholding the guide and will continue to do so until the new growth is established, erosion risk is diminished and until the native flora gets a firm hold against exotic species brought in on shoes etc. Please be patient! The Grampians is a huge place and there are hundreds of square kilometres of rock laden landscapes waiting to be climbed!”
