If I’m not mistaken, this ascent makes Jesse the first New Orleans native to climb V14, which was the hardest grade in existence in 1998 when Jesse began climbing in a gym that was subsequently destroyed by a hurricane. Since more New Orleanians play football than rock climb, we consider Jesse’s achievement more impressive than the Saints winning the Super Bowl. Congratulations are in order!

It might just be the fact that I had recent shoulder surgery, but does anyone else think that Derailed looks like it would totally shred a non-superhuman’s shoulders?
Congrats to Jesse and everyone else who’s sending their hardest and pushing their personal limits!

Not to mention that Jesse is 5’0″… This may make him the shortest person to ever climb v14.
