Climbing Videos: Alex Honnold, Others Big Wall Climbing In Borneo

The way that climbing and technology continues to merge amazes me every day.  Take as an example the expedition of Mark Synnott, Conrad Anker, Kevin Thaw, Jimmy Chin, Alex Honnold and Renan Ozturk to climb a big wall in Borneo.  They’ve been sharing well produced videos at their blog throughout their entire expedition.  No more waiting months for an article to show up in one of the magazines to see a cool new place!

Here are a few of their dispatches that show them starting up the wall, Alex Honnold free soloing some unclimbed spire, Honnold doing a cool sideways dyno, Mary Synnott ripping a huge block off the wall and their eventual summit.  Check out their blog for more.

Thanks to Dream In Vertical for alerting me to this!

That block he pulls off in the second clip is insane.

I like how it never seems to reach the ground.
