As I mentioned yesterday, it’s OR time and not coincidentally two companies have announced some additions to their rosters of sponsored climbers.

Moving on from previous sponsor Marmot, Tommy Caldwell is the newest member of Patagonia’s Ambassador team:

“In my eyes Patagonia has always been the role model. The benchmark. The company everyone looks up to,” says Caldwell, “The company’s genuine pursuit of environmental issues is a vision of what business can, and should, look like. Ever since my first days in Yosemite, Yvon has been one of my biggest heroes. I look forward to the opportunity to pursue adventures in the spirit of the Patagonia, and be part of a team of ambassadors that will push and inspire me. As a full time climber, I am honored and incredibly excited to be welcomed to the family.”

Over at Black Diamond, Sonnie Trotter and the young phenom Adam Ondra both signed on to the Black Diamond Global Team:

Adam Ondra is the present and the future. No other climber has accomplished as much in such a short period of time as this 18-year-old mutant from Czech Republic. From 5.14 onsights to 5.15 redpoints, Adam seems unstoppable, ticking off the world’s hardest routes at an unheard of rate. Sonnie Trotter has set himself apart from the field with his pursuit of bold, high-end bolt-free trad lines throughout the globe. Few climbers have combined their sport climbing fitness with heady climbing as well as Sonnie has, and his dedication to the craft has paid off with numerous 5.14 trad ascents. All of us here at Black Diamond are excited to have Sonnie and Adam on our Global Team and look forward to watching this space for news, trip reports and videos from their travels and climbs this spring and beyond

The obvious upside for the internet climbing fan is that, presumably, all 3 climbers will be providing some content for Patagonia and Black Diamond to use on their respective blogs. Sounds like a win-win to me.

In related Adam Ondra news, he recently spent a few days in Bahratal, Germany where he did 1 V11 and 2 V12s on his first try. Here’s some fairly low quality psychedelic? footage of Ondra sending a V13 in Bahratal:

Update: Writing on his blog, Sonnie Trotter shares some of the reasons he signed with Black Diamond and ended his relationship with Petzl.
