Despite the fact that I have no prospects for climbing anytime soon, I have been abnormally eager for the snows to melt and the Spring season at Devil’s Lake to begin. A couple of weeks back I went on one adventure at The Lake with the R-Tard crew that requires its own post at a [...]

Poker Night at Adventure Rock
Last night was day 2 of Adventure Rock’s 7 day 10 Year Anniversary celebration. Despite the continued snowfall, plenty of people turned out in their cheesy dealer hats to make Poker Night a success. The premise was simple: climb 7 routes and grab a playing card from the top of each route, and at the [...]

Adventure Rock 10 Year Anniversary
Next week, my home gym Adventure Rock is celebrating its 10 year anniversary with a 7 day extravaganza. Click the below flier for a schedule of events. The event of most interest to me, Everest Day, will be taking place while we are in Boulder which is a bummer until I realize that we will [...]

First Tracks
From the sounds of it people from all over the Climbingnarc.com reading area are getting crushed with snow this winter and here in southeast Wisconsin it is no different. We have already had twice as much snow as last year and this is the most total snow we have had in over ten years. Yesterday [...]

Quick on the Draw 9
This past weekend was the 9th Annual Quick on the Draw comp at Adventure Rock. The event saw a record number of participants and was incredibly fun to be a part of. Please check back later this week for more pictures and full results. In the meantime, it is anyone’s guess how the costumes worn [...]

Random Winter Pictures
I added some random winter themed pictures to the Pictures page. They were taken either out behind our apartment complex or at Lapham Peak State Park. I think they are some of the better pictures I have taken since I got my new camera, but I still have a lot to get better at!

News & Notes
What Did You Do This Weekend?
Tommy Caldwell and Alex Honnold spent Saturday romping up big walls in Yosemite. The pair free climbed Freerider on El Cap (6:45 climbing), the South Face of Mt. Watkins (2:40 climbing) and the Regular Northwest Face on Half Dome (5 climbing) in just over 21 hours. More at Climbing.com. So…how was your weekend??
Ethan Pringle On Jumbo Love
Ethan Pringle is back at Mt. Clark, home to that one route first done by that one guy:
Projecting a route like this requires all of your attention, and having to devote all of your attention to a route like this can get really tiring really fast. At some point, you just want to get it over with. Of course, afterward you feel a mix of relief and loss. Relief that you’re done and the epic is over, and loss that this magnificent line doesn’t require your presence anymore. But for me, I think I’ll have to take a nice long break from serious route projects for a little while after this. Like Randy Levitt said, “It’s like a limestone El Cap.” Obviously, that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but it does sort of convey the amount of work required to complete a project of this caliber.
Pringle is no stranger to Jumbo Love, having tried it even before its FA back in 2008. You can see some footage of those attempts here.
When In Doubt Pack It Out
I don’t know about you, but I always try my best to climb close to an actual bathroom. In case you don’t, the Access Fund has a nice refresher on what to do when nature calls.
