Hans_krugger: I really liked your comment about your take on climbing...compared to you, I am super new school (started about 5 years ago; I am 19 years old) but have found many joys in climbing for the fun of it and NOT just competing! A lot of younguns like myself seem to mostly be in it for competing these days and being "the best". Thanks for your input

Nice site. I just found it. As an old school climber (1970s) I am sickened by what climbing has become. Long dead are the ethics of clean climbing and good style. I hope you consider republishing some of the articles that Chouinard used to put in his catalogs. We could use a fresh infusion of ethics. In the 70s many people worried that climbing culture would decompose into something like ski culture..it has. Competition, fashion and status.. I hope you use your platform as a pulpit to inspire a return to clean climbing and climbing for the shear zen-like joy of it. It doesn't matter what level you climb at - its about the internal game of exploring and pushing your own limits. Competition in climbing is as disgusting as having your gear made by some damn publically traded mega corporation.
Photo - me on the left with a couple of friends. Yea, that is a Chouinard ice axe circa 1975...woolrich knickers circa 1976, kelty mountain boots (an experiment from 1977) and I am circa 1957.

Yosemite Big Wall Climbing just Got Easier

So you want to see if big walls are for you but don't want to shell out the money to buy all the gear? You just do one wall a year and can't justify buying a ledge and haul bag?
Traveling to Cali and don have room for all the stuff or the airlines are charging too much for baggage? The Solution..........Rent Haul Bags, ledges, and all wall necessities in one package.
