The news of the possible disappearance in China of Boulder, CO based climbers Micah Dash and Jonny Copp along with filmmaker Wade Johnson has been blazing around the internet today on blogs, news sites, twitter and The Facebook.  Visit this blog for all the updates. My thoughts are with the friends and families…

    wow, it’s cool that their friends are speeding to their aid across the world… kinda says a lot for climbing

      Indeed. I had the good fortune to meet Micah on a couple of occasions and it wasn’t hard to see why he is so well liked among the climbing community. Great guy. Hopefully this will have a good ending.

    Praying for these guys, rarely do these events on remote peaks hit home, but this certainly does.

    same goes for wade, who graduated four years ahead of me. i’ve had the good fortune of climbing with him on several occasions. a truly wonderful human being. my thoughts are with the three of them

    They said on the news last night that they think they found the body of Wade Johnson, (originally from Arden Hills, MN…next suburb over from me). They said it looks like an avalanche. Doesn’t sound good at all…

      The link given above now has confirmation that the body is in fact Johnny Copp. Rumors have been circulating since last night as neighbors of the Copps said the family was notified, but in a situation like this, one shouldn’t report on rumors. This is completely confirmed though, and so so sad. I loved reading about all of Jonny’s escapades.

        Latest news, reported by a couple news sites, is that the body of Wade Johnson has been recovered. Can’t expect much else at this point, but still so so sad.
