I want some big walls to train endurance, and leading. I can't rage crimpy bouldering moves like I used too. It's just a shame we are a premier climbing city and we can't even have a legit gym in the immediate downtown area......

was in there kinda helping (mostly stealing beer) on friday... it is a good set up. the walls are pretty big and very compelling... especially the main 45... they should be big enough that you think about committing to moves when nearing the top.

Funny you posted this, I was just with Lee the other day in Denver. Seems like a really unique business plan and more of a Co-op type thing. I think people are gonna dig it! Good luck Lee!

I agree. I hope they can all do well, but if not I would have to assume the new gym or the BRC would be the one to fold. I can't see the Spot going since it's just bouldering so it should have a slightly different member base. I would guess CATS makes their money off gymnastics not climbing anyway and obviously the Rec Center's not going anywhere.

I think the BRC and CM+F are the most directly competing with each other so it will come down to the size of the market, customer loyalty, and relative quality of the gyms.

On another note, Climbing Movement + Fitness may not make it just by virtue of the awkward name and equally awkward abbreviation. The BRC definitely has the upper hand in that respect.

It will be interesting to see if there is a market for that many gyms in Boulder or if one of the older gyms (BRC?) gets squeezed out.

The new gym in Boulder, Movement Climbing + Fitness, looks like it's coming along well too. It's only a block from my apartment so I go by it all the time. Apparently it's going to have "stadium seating" so I'm imagining it will be better for large comp spectating than, say, The Spot.

With all the great rock outside and the (usually) great weather, the front range sure does have a lot of gyms. By my count this will be the 5th gym just in Boulder (CU Rec Center, BRC, The Spot, CATS).
